Biomet Magnum Hip Implant Lawyer

The Biomet M2-a Magnum is similar to the recalled DePuy ASR hip and other metal hip implants, which have come under scrutiny for their high failure rates and risks of serious side effects as they are that implants consist of a metal femoral head and pelvic cup. The Biomet Magnum hip replacement is composed of chromium and cobalt.

The friction from the metal components may release metal debris into the surrounding bloodstream and tissue, causing hip replacement complications.

Biomet Magnum Hip Replacement Approved Using a Shortcut

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) approved the Biomet M2a-Magnum hip implant in 2004. However these approval was pushed through at a very high rate which many people think was too fast and called it a shortcut. This is the same process that other defective hip replacements have been approved through, including the DePuy ASR hip implant, which was recalled, the DePuy Pinnacle hip implant, and the Wright Conserve and Profemur hip systems.

Due to the lack of pre-market safety testing, the Biomet Magnum may cause serious side effects, including:

  • Hip pain
  • Inflammation and soft tissue damage
  • Difficulty standing or walking
  • Loosening of the hip implant
  • Popping and grinding
  • Hip revision surgery
