ELECTRICAL FIRES
The risk of fires in the workplace is something that no one should have to face. Employers often take precautions to prevent most sources of fire. But, potential electrical sources of fire may be difficult to identify without bringing in an electrician. Even then not all potential sources may be readily identifiable as the source may be a defective product that has yet to fail. Some of the potential sources of electrical fires in the workplace include:
- Faulty wiring
- Improperly installed wiring
- Defective appliances or power tools
- Improper storage of flammable materials
- Circuit breaker failures
When electrical fires happen in the workplace they can be unexpected and cause serious injury. As with most fires, the real danger may not be from burns, but rather from smoke inhalation. In the workplace, a fire can cause toxic fumes that can cause very serious injuries or fatalities.
